(1) SIPLA Meet & Greet Tonight at Elephant & Castle
Tonight is our Fall Meet & Greet Happy Hour event at Elephant & Castle on 19th & I from 5-7p. This will be a great opportunity to meet IP faculty, current SIPLA members, alumni, and your mentors (for those who signed up for the mentor program). We hope to see you there!
Alcohol will be available via a ticket system for individuals over the age of 21 with a valid, government-issued ID.

(3) Music Business Internship
Smithsonian Folkways Recordings, the non-profit record label of the Smithsonian Institution, is seeking applicants for a Music Business Internship that is designed to offer law students an opportunity to gain experience with copyright issues, licensing, contracts, and other matters related to the acquisition and publication of music in the context of a non-profit museum. (4) Finnegan Job Posting

Finnegan’s Washington and Reston offices are seeking Student Associates with a background in Mechanical Engineering to draft and prosecute patent applications on a full-time basis.

Mechanical Engineering degree preferred.  Candidates must be in the top 25% of their class and must either be in the evening program or meet their school’s criteria for part-time status.  Patent prosecution experience is preferred.  PTO registration number is a plus.

Only law students in an evening law school program will be considered — J.D. Class of 2017, 2018, and 2019 preferred.

Responsibilities of Student Associates include: preparing patent applications for filing with the US Patent and Trademark Office; evaluating the underlying technology of inventions; opinion writing; client counseling; litigation support; and providing technical assistance on projects.

​(2) First General Body Meeting – August 25th
Just a reminder that our first General Body Meeting will be on Tuesday, August 25th at 5:00 PM in LL101. There is a lot to go over, so we hope you can make it. Pizza and drinks will be provided!
​(3) Transfer Student Roundtable with Dean Whealan
We are organizing a brown bag lunch round table with Dean Whealan for IP transfer students on August 27th from 12:00-1:00 PM in E112. This will be a great opportunity for new students to learn about the resources available to them through the IP Department and SIPLA. If you know any students who have recently transferred to GW Law that are interested in IP, please let them know about this event. Light food and drinks will be provided!

(4) 2015 SIPLA Mentoring Program​
SIPLA is seeking students interested in volunteering as mentors for the 2015-2016 school year. The SIPLA mentoring program is a valuable resource for new students and an important part of what distinguishes GW Law in the eyes of IP employers. All 2L, 3L, and 4L students are encouraged to apply to be a SIPLA mentor.

(5) Fanelli Haag – Paid Internship Opportunity
