(8) SIPLA Spotlight – Emma Frank

SIPLA Spotlight is a Newsletter segment where we feature 2L or 3L SIPLA members every newsletter. The purpose of SIPLA Spotlight is to introduce the 1L SIPLA members to upperclassmen who are interested in varying aspects of IP Law and have many different backgrounds. 1Ls, if an upperclassmen has a similar background as you, is interested in the same practice area as you, has interned where you want to intern, etc., please feel free to reach out to them via email (you can reach anyone in the law school by searching their name in the recipients line of an email). They have all been in your shoes and are more than wiling to give you some advice!

Emma graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a Bachelor’s in Biology (focusing in infectious disease and immunology), as well as a minor in public policy. During her 1L and 2L summers, Emma returned to Boston as a summer associate at Wolf, Greenfield & Sacks, P.C., focusing on patent litigation. After graduation, she will be joining their litigation practice full-time as an associate.

During her 2L year, Emma was a finalist in the Rothwell Intellectual Property Moot Court Competition and will be representing GW Law at the Giles Rich Intellectual Property Moot Court Competition this year. This fall, as a 3L, Emma is interning at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in Judge O’Malley’s chambers.

Emma served as Regulatory Chair of SIPLA during her 2L year. In addition to remaining active in SIPLA this year, she is also the Director of the Law Revue Show (cue jazz hands), a member of Promissory Notes (the law school a cappella group), and an associate on The George Washington Law Review (no jazz hands). When she’s not at school, Emma enjoys baking for her friends and spending time with her cat, Milo.

– Have a great week,
